Engine has a knocking/tapping sound at 3000 to 3500 rpm.

What is your question?

Knocking/tapping noise between 3000 to 3500 rpm. Not at idle or above 3500. Dealer says it could be a rod bearing. Sounds more to me like a lifter noise. Only has 40k miles & not driven very hard.
