Car won’t start new battery code reader says “PCM/ECM”. Trying to jump start it, someone put jumper cables on backwards. How can I verify problem with ecm?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! The Outlander is giving you the silent treatment, huh? A new battery and still no start, plus the PCM/ECM code? And then those jumper cables got mixed up—that's like giving your car poison instead of a jolt! First, check the fuses. A blown fuse from reversed cables can stop your PCM/ECM from working. Look for visibly blown fuses and replace them. Next, verify the ECM issue with an OBD-II scanner. Codes like P0600-P0606 suggest ECM problems. Inspect the ECM for damage or burnt components – reversed cables can fry the internals. If codes persist and nothing obvious shows, get a professional diagnosis. An experienced mechanic can run more in-depth tests on the ECM. With patience and the right tools, you'll get your Outlander back on the road!
