not sure where to start to fix. Any possibility the head lamp going out would also disable tail & brake light? Not sure whether to go for bulb replacement or if problem is in fuse?
How long has your 2006 Mitsubishi Montero had this problem?

Hello, does not seem to be related. Start with one of the areas and replace the bulb first. If it lights, then you know you do not have a power and ground issue. Sure, wire testing can be performed, but often times just replacing the bulb is simpler, cheaper and quite definitive.
