Why am I changing my alternator every 6 to 8 months? Is there a recall on this?

how many times have you changed it?where have you been buying the alternators?

I do not know of a recall on the alternator, but I just replaced mine today (2001 Montero Sport) and on the back right side of it (basically right below where you fill the engine oil) was absolutely covered in oil. There may be oil leaks in the o-rings or gaskets somewhere that allows it to leak oil, unfortunately right into the alternator components and causes it to short, and break overtime. Good luck!
