He said he was just going to look at it but I stopped in and it was apart said he wouldn't charge me much. I HOW NOT! EngineEngine

IF... 'IF' the crank is ok.... replace balancer (crank pulley) and bolt using locktite on threads with 'proper' torque' !! ... Is the crankshaft ok???... Ask dealer... got to know this!!
It's about $45 to replace the bolt and torque it but I've never seen these come loose before thanks you can call us anytime
thank you for your timely response! I also found out that the crankshaft is not bad
He told me pin Sheard off and bolt was striped. He didn't mention anything else being bad. I heard this is a common problem for this vehicle. Don't know why they are not a recall. I had my 2 kids in the car when I lost all power on car. On the freeway of all places. Don't know if this helps. .. battery light came on (I assume because the alternator belt fell off. Everything just quit on a dime) it will turn over. Is there a way to know for sure that crank itself is NOT in need of being replaced. Sure hope this isn't the case. I read some ppl replaced theses 3 ttimes.
Strongly suggest crankshaft balancer replacement if 'any' doubt!!!...... They usually get damaged at the locator pin hole when the bolt loosens/strips or breaks, i have fixed a couple of these !... This is most likely due to incorrect or under torque/failure to replace the bolt with a new one from a previous repair!!!....Have it closley inspected.... and .... Fixed!!!!!
