2015 Mitsubishi Mirage started having a conniption fit. Starter issue possibly?

So, when I try to start it, it seems to try to start once - briefly. Then all the lights on the dash started flashing. The car uses a key fob and a button. And when I try to push the button again, there is no clicking or anything. Nothing is trying to work except the excessively annoying flashing panel. It is for this reason I rule out an alternator or battery issue. But then again, I am not a mechanic. It just makes sense to me that this would be a starter issue. But the situation is unique. I haven't ever seen a starter issue where the panel lights up. Perhaps I am wrong? It could be the brain, right? I certainly don't know anything about car brains.
