my sons car only blows low cool air when driving or sometimes it will just shut off by it self. when turning temperature switch to make it run faster it makes a clicking noise

Could be low on refrigerant. It sounds like you also may have a bad blend door actuator. If you don't normally work on automotive ac systems I'd bring it to a shop for a complete diagnosis. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
