Fan works, has little heat but barely any, what could this be, how do i check it

Whn i turn on the fan it works perfect, but the heat is only "warm" after the car warms up, ac works but not as cold as it can be as well, the ac heater panel temp adjustment knob is broke but still works and barely turns even with pliers as well,what can this be, and how do i check what it is?
