AC runs great for 30 minutes or so but then fan slows down and it barely cools.

Check to see if your A/C compressor is spinning under the hood. If it is, then there's something likely wrong with the feedback system in your car (computer telling your fan to go a certain speed), which in all likliness is just a temperature sensor.
