The only thing you can really do beyond testing and tear down as needed is ensure you have the right grade of high quality oil (5W20 for this vehicle) in the car, and make sure the oil filter is also of high quality -- I'd go as far as to get a genuine Mitsubishi original equipment filter just to ensure proper filtration. Sometimes doing something as simple as this oil and filter change is sufficient to correct this kind of an issue.
