why my car is smoking from the tailpipe (white smoke)? could i need a tune up?

I have had a car do that before but it was because I had a blown head gasket and coolant was getting into the engine. My head had warped so I had to take it off and get it machined flat and replace that gasket which fixed it. But the engine was so bad off when that happened i don' t think I could have driven it for 2 months like that.
