Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer estimate

inner tie rods are 39 per side. it pays 3 hours to replace both add 79 for alignment. if you replace outers, add 28 per side and no labor due to the fact that you have to remove them to remove the inners. Roy

ive got a 2000 galant. right inner tie rod bad. my shop quoted me 261.00 plus tax. way to much for me. part runs about 35.00 and alignment should be around 60-80. chancing i can doit myself. if you do it yourself, research it and most parts stores will rent you any tool you need for free, just put a deposit down and you get it back when you return the tool. generally shops charge jobs by the hour, so if your job takes 3 hrs, 60 to 80 bucks an hour, plus the price of the part, gets pretty expensive quick. generally these shops charge you the book time(3hrs to change both inner tie rods) but are so verse in doin the job they can do it in less time and still charge you the three hr job time. nuthin against that, i choose to take 6hrs to do it myself, get mad, frustrated, and dirty, but in the end i can climb ontop of my car and scream i saved 350.00 smackers and relish in my bloody knuckles as battle wounds. really i cant afford to shell out the clams.
