What is your question?
ECM wont reset after having work done on car. EVAP, CAT, 02S and HRT failed on I/M scan. I have completed 6 different drive cycles and nothing, I re-scan and it comes up the same every time. My live data indicates a bad catalytic converter as the 02 bank1S1 and bank1S2 data are almost identical. Bank 1S1 is fluctuating within normal voltage specs. My question is, would a bad cat keep the ECM from resetting ALL the modules that failed? Why is it not resetting and throwing a CODE. The rest of the live data looks within specs except the cat. I really don't want to start throwing money at things I don't need and I need to get the car inspected in 2 days. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, No the cat will not cause additional monitors not to set, and it is not throwing codes because the monitors are not ready to monitor the system. The comparison of the front and rear O2 sensor is a decent way of looking a it, but the rear should not be nearly identical to the front. The catalytic converter should be cleaning up the exhaust. If everything else is looking right, you might just have a mechanical issue, or the data set needs to be compared to the reference ranges in the repair manual to see if those values are indeed within spec. The ECM could be bad as well, but not likely if everything is running tip top. Now, the ECM will run the self-check several times, restarting every time it finds a fault unless a threshold is met. It is designed to get a pass when at all possible. What I'm getting at is that there must be a fault there somewhere, and I would start by inspecting the circuits for the O2 sensor heater, andO2 sensors, followed by testing the EGR valve and solenoid circuit. I wouldn't actually test the cat until I resolved the issue with the heated O2 sensor.
Hi Casey, thanks for the quick response. Yesterday someone told me that a bad battery could cause the ECM to not run its tests. So I went to auto zone and low and behold the battery tested bad. May be a bad cell, but under a load test it fails at just 9.1 volts. So Ill do a drive cycle with the new battery tomorrow and if that doesn't work Ill start checking the 02 heater, sensors EGR and solenoid circuit. I needed the battery anyways, so I will give that a go first. Ill let you know how I make out and hopefully post a FIX for the problem Thanks again
Excellent!
