My 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor won't is stuck in park. Any tricks to get it out?

If the shift lever cannot be moved from park, it is often caused by a lack of signal from the brake light switch. This switch not only activates the brake lights while driving, but also signals the shift interlock release to get your vehicle out of park. The switch or it's wiring could be faulty. You could certainly have other issues, but this is the most likely cause historically.
