What is your question?
I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4 L automatic transmission. I have a recently replaced throttle body assembly which came with the idle sensor and throttle position sensor attached. I have new spark plugs. What's happening is when I push hard on the accelerator pedal the engine will speed up like it's supposed to but when I let off the pedal it does not throttle down. My only fix is to put the car in neutral and then the RPMs will drop on their own or sometimes I have to push the gas pedal down real hard 2 or 3 times and then the RPMs will come down, then I put it back in drive and keep going. The pedal is not sticking and neither is the new butterfly in the throttle body assembly. No check engine light is on and no codes are being displayed. What else could it be?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Problem always occurs at higher RPMs
How long has your 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse had this problem?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sounds like your 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse is hanging onto RPMs like an overenthusiastic karaoke singer who just won’t give up the mic. Since the throttle body assembly is new and no codes are popping up, the issue could be with the throttle cable sticking, or maybe the throttle position sensor is misbehaving despite being new. Also, check for any vacuum leaks—they can mess with idle and throttle response. Since you’re only seeing it at higher RPMs, the problem might be hiding in plain sight, so a good diagnostic check could save you from more gas pedal gymnastics.
