$ 300 for the cabin air filter??? They way overcharged you. It takes about 30 minutes to change it. You need to remove the glove compartment to get access to it. You will see the access to the filter, just pull it out, replace the filter and reinstall everything. Zee
He is right about where the filter is. ( behind the glove box.) the reason water is getting in is either the drain for the a/c is stopped up. ( located on the firewall outside) blow out or the heater core is bad but they really dont go out
Mechanic told me it was a filter to keep the leafes from clogging! I belive I do not have a cabin air filter in my mitsubishi/spyder/eclipse/2004/GS.
I was told my eclipse 2004 did not hav a cbin air filter.
Some Mitsubishi does not have any as a factory installed unit, therefor debris entered the evaporator housing and clogged the drain plug. For this reason they issued the TSB and started to install the leaf / dust / cabin / pollen / A/C / Air Purifier filter (you can call it any way you like it) OK people, here it is from the Mitsubishi repair manual: 2004 Eclipse Service and Repair AIR PURIFIER FILTER (REPLACE) 1. Remove the glove box inner and outer. 2. Pull the air purifier filter cut of the blower assembly. 3. Insert a new air purifier into the glove box inner and outer. LABOR TIME: 0.4 Hrs Part#: MR500360 And here is the technical service bulletin from them about the filter and water leak: A/C - Water Leaks to The Interior No.: TSB-04-55-008 DATE: September, 2004 MODEL: See below SUBJECT: BLOWER MOTOR HOUSING FILTER This TSB supercedes TSB-03-55-008REV, to update the affected vehicles and warranty information. New information is indicated by a shaded triangle or an arrow. PURPOSE Debris (such as leaves, etc.) entering the front cowl area may clog the evaporator housing drain tube. If this occurs, the evaporator housing may fill up with condensation and overflow into the passenger compartment, and into the blower motor through the cooling tube. To eliminate this condition, clean the debris from the tube and the case, then install a blower motor housing filter as described in this bulletin. On Lancer models produced before 9/25/02, also install special wiper pivot caps onto the wiper pivot shafts as described in TSB-03-51-001. --> Refer to TSB-04-55-007 for Endeavor and 2004 Galant repair procedures for HVAC drain blockage. AFFECTED VEHICLES 2002-2003 Lancer 2003 Outlander 2000-2004 Eclipse, Eclipse Spyder 1999-2003 Galant PROCEDURE 1. Confirm proper blower motor operation. 2. Clean debris from the evaporator housing drain tube and evaporator case. 3. On Eclipse, Eclipse Spyder and 1999-2003 Galant models only: Refer to TSB-01-55-002 for filter installation procedures. 4. Remove the glove box lid. 5. Install a blower motor housing filter (listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin) a follows: a. Use a knife to cut a section from the top of the blower motor housing, along the perforated lines as shown. b. Install the filter with the air flow directional arrow pointing down. c. On Lancer and Outlander models only: Secure the filter with two 5X14 self-lapping screws. Zee
