The heater in my 2008 Eclips spider will not turn off what could be wrong

The heater works fine and just won't shut off when I put the knob on stop. I have owned the car since 2016 and my mechanic has changed the whole unit twice. We wound up sending the units back since it did not stop the problem. what else can we do or try?
