What is your question?
My power steering pump is making a high pitch whirling noise that changes with the rpm. Doesn't seem to affect the operation of the power steering just really annoying, almost sounds like an electric motor reving up and and down with rpm. I changed the pump, flushed the system, put new fluid in, and made sure to bleed really really good and its still making the sound. Fluid level is good and there are no bubbles in the reservoir. I thought it was the bearing in the pump going bad but my old one was actually quiter than the new one, so I put the old one back on and it's louder now too. What might be causing this sound? Maybe another faulty pump,
What makes this problem better or worse?
Might be a tiny bit better when it's warmed up but not enough to really notice.
How long has your 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse had this problem?
A few weeks

Hello, it honestly sounds like air in the system -- although it's truly impossible to know without getting a hands on evaluation. There are other pulleys involved - such as tensioner and idler - that can possibly cause noise too. In a belt system noise can definitely travel, so be careful to inspect cautiously and closely.
