My 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS (5-speed manual transmission) is notorious for not starting. I have experienced a few problems myself. This is what l have done to fix all the starting problems l encountered: 1) when l would turn the ignition key multiple times and the motor would not crank, A) battery was discharged: weak battery and/or grounding problem with the battery cables, B) loose battery connections that need tightening, C) your battery cables need to be replaced, (a set will run you about $12-15). D) your clutch safety switch located on the back of your clutch pedal is worn out or may have fallen out. 2) Check your fuel filter and see if it needs to be replaced, especially if you have been using bad gasoline, eventually it will just give out. 3) do a compression test and see if one of your cylinders has a leak. Most of the ignition problems l diagnosed was mostly due to bad batteries! Hope this helps!
Hi if its not those things that were mentioned, you might want to check your crankshaft sensor, sometimes it can break or one of the wire's could of discontent, it's located at the bottom and have to take of the plastic cover, I hope that solves your problem,
