Ive had the belt replaced twice. I stopped running the air because its not only embarrassing but my neighborhood autoshop said if its the compressor and i dont replace it, I could damage other parts of my engine. Is this true? Is it the compressor and could it damage my car even if i leave it off?

It will cause your ac compressor to break in the poley area, living you with out ac and alternator current. It happened twice to me since I only replaced the top/poley in the compressor but is the clutch that is malfuncioning, and its inside the copressor so i need to replace the compressor. I buyed a shorter belt to bypass the compressor but you wil have to remove the poley.
