Mine does almost the exact same thing. No power, barely moves, and backfires. However, I just bought mine and it wasn't running at all when I got it. Replaced the pin on the crankshaft pulley, it was bent causing it to not sit right, and it starts right up now. I think it sat for about 7-8 months though, and the gas is bad. It was just under a quarter tank and I filled the rest with new gas and a bottle of Heet. I can no longer work on my car due to health issues, but plan on taking it in for a full tune-up next week. I'm hoping that will fix the problem. Before they start any of that work, they'll first run a diagnostic and with luck will find the exact problem. Let me know if you find out anything, and I'll post what I find out next week. Good luck.
If the timing belt was just done the timing may have been incorrectly set. These have a unique procedure for setting the timing and a hydraulic tensioner that must be set exactly correct. I have had many towed in where other shops have incorrectly set the timing.
