cruise control will not turn on

when i push the cruise on switch light comes on but goes off as soon as i release switch

THE CRUISE CONTROL IS HELD BY VACUUM, IT IS POSSIBLE THE VACUUM LINE FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL BOX IS DAMAGED AND LEAKING. IT COULD ALSO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE SWITCH THOUGH.
