Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your 2016 Mini Cooper. If your vehicle was starting before you replaced the battery and now it will not start, in some cases this can be due to the vehicle security system engaging and preventing the engine from starting. On allot of model vehicles in many cases when the battery is replaced this can cause the security system to lose its programming to where it may need to be reset/reprogrammed to allow it to start and run again. This usually involves the use of a high end scan tool plugged into your vehicle data port to perform the reset. In some cases you can cycle the locks using your key or key fob to reset it to allow it to start again. A local locksmith in your area may be able to drive out to you and use their scan tool to perform the reset/relearn if needed. A local shop can usually help with this as well. It is also a good idea to check and make sure that none of the fuses were blown when the battery was replaced and to make sure the battery itself was connected properly as this can also cause this concern.
