What happened to the car on highway today?

Is it driving any differently? The front strut mounts may have failed. Pop the hood and take a look at the strut tops. If they've mushroomed upward then they're toast. Not sure about Minis specifically, but there are cases with other cars where if the strut mount fails, the shock shaft will shoot through it and hit the hood, though that's quite rare.
