What is your question?
The rear view mirror fell of and seemed to cause a work covered cord (not visible before) to break. The car is an 07 so likely wear over time. The car will not lock or unlock, from the outside, but locks fine from the inside. I do not believe it is the locking mechanism but the connection to the key fob. The rear view mirror is also not stable without this connecting cord. Has anyone else had this issue? Repair cost?
How long has your 2007 Mini Cooper had this problem?
since the cord broke about a week ago. Before that it was working fine.

Hello, your wiring to the mirror may have detached along with the mirror when it came off. Any time electrical wiring becomes damaged, it can cause multiple related effects -- too hard to guess without hands not testing. For example, a fuse may have blown to protect the damaged circuit, and related components may share the same fuse. I would check fuses, but definitely the wiring and mirror must be repaired properly as well.
I'd start by fixing that rearview mirror and any broken wiring first. That may just correct the issue. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
