What is your question?
I see that 27 others have asked the same question, but you give no answers - only referrals to mechanics...I do not need the latter! What I need to know is: what's wrong? How it can be fixed? And how much it should cost to do so? Thank you.

MINI cooper (R50, R52, R53) if the passenger door lock stops working it is possible it is one of these three things. 1- a faulty passenger door lock actuator (it's integrated in the door latch) 2- a faulty driver door lock actuator (passenger door lock gets its signal from the driver door lock) 3- a faulty GM (general module) which controls the door locks. Unfortunately... unless you can take your door apart and test signal to the passenger door lock you can't won't be able to diagnose it yourself. To replace the GM the new part will have to be programmed.
If it is only one door and both locking and unlocking doesn't work ti is almost certainly the door actuator. Located just under the door locking button. Can be replaced [although I haven't done it] but i did fond a video on teh net on how to replace a mini door actuator. I cannot remmber the site but a simple search should find it. I hope this helps. Thanks for your reply Greg. I have had the actuator replaced...you were correct that that was the problem.
Thank you for your response. Since both the driver's side door and the trunk locks both work with the key fob and the internal release toggle switch I'm hoping it will only be the passenger side that's involved (your #1 possibility). I guess I'll need to take it to an authorized mechanic, or the dealer... Just hate to pay BMW's exhorbitant fees! I have a great mechanic for general maintenance, but this sounds more specialized and I doubt that it would be something he could handle.... Many Thanks again.
