Car won't go over 40 and drives slow

really need to know what its doing, need to drive it. could be a lot of things. is it skipping, does it shift right, etc..
Wen I put it in drive it jumps and skipping like wen I'm at a stop light and it feel like it wants to turn off and like I said wen I go to put my feet on the gas for it to go it moves but very slow for a minute or two then it pick up seed up to 40
