the temperature is stuck at 75 degrees and there is no heat. this occured after a battery change.

Looks like a bad thermostat. It's just a coincidence that happened with the battery change. Replace the thermostat an all should be good. Zee
I'm wondering if you are speaking about your electronic temperature control (EATC) sticking at 75 degrees? Assuming your Sable is equipped with the EATC system. If this is the case, the thermostat won't help you. You would have an issue with the EATC system. Just another point of view potentially...
you could need a tune up mine did that and i got a tune up and it hasnt done it since
flush heater core. i have one and have replaced heater core and now have to flush every couple of months

You know, not many of the Sables were EATC, but it's just a hunch...from our standpoint, our interpretation of 75 degrees is a thermostat all day long, you know?
