What is your question?
I have already replaced the thermostat, and it does open. I can feel the radiator hose getting hot water, but the radiator remains cold, even when the engine temp gauge is pinned and there is coolant boiling in the engine. I don't want to have to do one then the other if possible.
It could be the water pump that's true. If the water pump is working though, a blockage in the system is usually in the radiator or the heater core for the HVAC not the thermostat. Flow test would determine for sure.
Thanks. The thermostat looked like new when I pulled it. No sign of any gunk. I understand that this kind of catastrophic failure is something these water pumps do. $400 to replace it. Yuk.
