when I turn the a/c on, on the passenger vent, it begins by blowing heat,

I have the exact same problem! It doesn't always do this every time I use my A/C, but it is only hot on the passenger side front vent! Would be interested in learning the answer to this problem as well. 2006 mercury mountaineer
