What is your question?
2005 mercury mountaineer. I have antifreeze leaking out of the rear heater coolant hose under the rear driver side tire. Can I replace the rubber elbow hose that runs the coolant to the rear heater? Or is that a pressurized hose? It is the second hose and has 2 clamps top one to the rear heater core and then about 5 inches down a 2nd clamp connecting to a metal hose. If I could post a pic I would but don't see an option for that.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It all pours out once engine is warm and stopped.
How long has your 2005 Mercury Mountaineer had this problem?
jus happened

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. Replacing the rear heater core hose is possible, if a direct replacement isn't available, bulk heater core hose (of the same size) will do the job. It is part of the engine cooling system, and pressure is generated, so be sure to use high quality hose and clamps, both of which can your local auto parts store can supply. Have a friend or family member take you and bring a piece of the original hose to be able to accurately match the size, specifically the inside diameter (I.D.). Be sure to inspect the metal pipe for damage or out of roundness, as this may cause a sealing issue, continuing the loss of coolant. Once you've secured the hose(s), fill the coolant, and purge any trapped air pockets from the cooling system. This may take a bit longer since you have a dedicated rear air conditioning system, but be patient and keep an eye on the temperature gauge throughout the process to avoid overheating.
