BLOW WARM AIR UNTIL YOU GET UP TO ABOUT 30MPH AND THEN COOLS OFF INTERIOR. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENS

I just went through this exact thing (abt 75K miles) and it turned out that the compressor had "blown a gasket" and was not able to be repaired. So the a/c had to be replaced. The dealer wanted $1300 (so much for an American car having less expensive parts). I found someone private to do it for $700. Anyhow if you do not get it fixed it will eventually cause the compressor / fan to seize up which somehow will make the serpentine belt fall off and strand you. Sorry :(. When I brought it in for service I was told that other than the a/c having issues, the brakes having a recall, the car lurching when you put it in drive or reverse, and the engine coming off the block it is a very reliable car. And the hydraulic rods that hold the trunk open just failed, so there is a danger of someone getting seriously injured until I get it fixed. I hope you do not have all of these problems, unfortunately we have.
Update: I got the hydraulic rods today ($25/ each) and they were very easy to replace. What a difference!!
HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH 98 MILES LEFT ON IT. THE A/C DRYER WAS BAD AND LEAK IN COMPRESSOR. THE DEALER IS REPLACING BOTH AND ALL ITS COSTING IS THE 50 DEDUCTABLE. ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT MODULE REPLACED (IT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION) COST WAS $1800, BUT COST ME 50.00
Make sure your condenser fan is running when the ac is on. Just fyi, when its close to 100 degrees, mine stops cooling to when parked. The lurch thing.....easily fixed by having the "fuel induction" service done at a good shop(I took mine to local ford dealership, $125.00) There is a you-tube vid on how to get to the throttle-body, clean it, replace a gasket and reassemble. May have to look for Ford 500 or freestyle throttle-body cleaning. Oh, the compressor gasket thing happened to me 2 years ago, and it will not even turn on(compressor that is) because of the pressure sensor, all fluid lost. Paid around $500 +150 for reman compressor
