For the past month I have been getting the following warning "left rear door ajar". This first occurred when the car was in motion and the door was fully closed. Since then warning is always, I'm sure this is not a cheap fix and I was planning to just deal with it for the meantime. However today my battery light came on when starting the car, about a minute later it switches off. Has done this three times today. I had a new alternator/battery installed last month. Could this door sensor being affecting the battery now?

The rear door ajar message could very well be caused by a defective door switch that triggers the door ajar message. As for the Charging System issue, the door ajar light may be on all the time and could be draining your battery and thus over working your charging system.
no the door is ran off the anti theaf system and mine has not work in my 1995 lincoln mark VIII in probly 3 years and i have not havd any bad problms.
