Speedometer issue

What is your question?

I have a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis and the speedometer will work fine then jump around, goes to 0 but eventually starts working again. What would cause this?

What makes this problem better or worse?

Nothing. You just have to let it do it's thing

Miles still adding up correctly when traveling? ... IF so suspect faulty SPEEDOMETER.
