What is your question?
We were having problems with the 2002 Cougar not starting. We thought it was the battery, so we bought a new battery for it, when we put the new one in, the car started right up, About a week from that date, we took a 1hr drive. And shut the car off for about 1/2 hr and when we tried to start it, no such luck. We had a nice policeman, jump start us, but as soon as he turned the corner the car stalled, but another person showed us and jumped us and got the car running. We drove the car home with no problem. When we got home. We turned the car. off, and tried ti start it, it did start it. We are puzzled?

You will want to check the battery and charging system, and diagnose the no start issue when it is occurring. These types of things are best left to an experienced mechanic, so I advise taking it to a shop.
alternator, alternator alternator! i'd be driving or idling and the engine would just shut down. jumped it, it ran fine for a minute and shut down. jumped it again, ran fine for a while and drove it home. basically no rhyme or reason. also no check engine lights would come on. took it to the shop, replaced the alternator AND put ina new battery, runs as good as new. the problem was that the alternator was not registering under eight volts or something like that and the engine would just shut off. good luck...
Altenator mine died jumped it and it dried whent home bought part to put on it whent to change it in the parking lot and tryed jumping it one time first and it started up so I decided to drive her a hr home made it all but 3 blocks till the alternator stopped working again changed it and worked fine your gonna want 3 exstentins 2 swivels ish to reach a bolt you go from under the drivers seat over the exsahast to the passenger wheel sounds crazy it's the only way also tie rod has to come off to drop out altinator
I know on alot of the cougars there is actually an inline fuse between the alternator and battery I would check to see if the fuse is blown, just follow the wire to the back side of the engine and you should see it. It will be located in a box. Get a multi meter and perform an ohm's test on it, it may be your problem.
