Only on cold days (under 10F) - the ABC will totally fail, dash goes RED, tells me to pull over immediately, squishy ride, etc. Once its above 20F or so it's fine. Happens every winter.

This is the first time I have experienced this on my current SL550, this is my 3rd SL and all three had problems with cold, mostly the air pressure sensor would freeze up and give me air pressure failures even though they were fine. That was the same on all three of them, but on the current one had an ABC failure and had to have the car towed because when I stopped the car, like it said to do, the body dropped on top of the wheels making it un-steerable. The repair shop ended up replaced a hydraulic hose. That was a few weeks ago, then last night my ABC red light came on again, when the light first came on I pulled over but the body didn't drop and I could still steer, so i drove it home even though the suspension was exhibiting strange behavior. When I parked it the body set down on the front wheels so I couldn't drive it.
My car is a 2007 SL550 and this happens every winter as well. I take it to the Benz dealership Bc it's under warranty and the dealership says the computer will not generate an error code. I even took a video of the dashboard lighting up and beeping. This is the second time this has happens and it has only happened in cold weather. My fear is that the dealership is just resetting the computer when this happens and is not addressing the issue Bc they can't find one. I park in a parking garage and do not want to run over anyone if the brakes and steering fail like this again. Any ideas on what to do with the dealership's diagnosis? It's under warranty so cost is not a factor. Thanks all!
I just spent 2600 on this issue a month ago, I had a high pressure hose let go and replacing it cost me 1600 and last week it cost me 1000 for a reservoir replacement low pressure side was leaking but there was no error code until the reservoir was low. My car is a 2008 with 75000 miles on it. When my light came on and I pulled over the whole car dropped on the wheels, I found out I had low fluid so I put a pint of power steering fluid in the reservoir and it came back up, but I had to have the whole system flushed and all fluid replace when they changed the reservoir, because of it. I keep a can of the Mercedes fluid in with the spare tire now. next year I'm not using it as a daily driver.
Yeah, the dealership said they flushed out my brake fluid... Drove it 50 miles and the car is fine. I'm assuming this is the same thing they did a year ago... But it keeps coming back. So, the issue is not being resolved. They service tech said without an error code they can't tell the warranty company what's exactly wrong and get them to pay for the repairs. I'll keep y'all posted with the results. The Benz was just in the job 2 weeks ago and the transmission was replaced at the warranty company's expense. It was a total of 7k.. So, I'm coming out ahead so far paying for that second extended warranty. My Benz was formally a daily driver- but is part time now- so, it sits sometimes. A little more than 80K miles on it Might be time for me to get rid of the car if this continues- it's too bad. One of the best cars I've ever owned for the money. This car ends up in the shop at least 6 times a year... But then again.. I take it in for every little thing Bc of the warranty.
