What is your question?
I just bought a 2004 sl500 for $15,000+ about a month ago. So far, the hydraulics hose needed to be replaced when the hydraulics went out. Now, my car won't shift to a higher gear. This has happened a few times before, but if I turned off my car and restarted it, this seemed to fix the issue and my car would run fine, shift fine, but now this doesn't work any more and I cannot drive this car that I just bought. Also, I checked transmission fluid level and it is waaay to high. It now sits in my driveway. No warranty as it is used, so purchased "as is". I have 2 error codes: P2767 Input/turbine speed sensor B circuit no signal P2768 Input/turbine speed sensor B circuit intermittent My question is: is this an expensive and hard repair to do? What would be the cost to fix this issue? I used all the money I had to buy this car so I can't afford these repairs as when I purchased the car 1 month ago I did so with the expectation that it would run and operate, at least for awhile.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It can't get any worse. It simply won't shift to a higher gear

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like your SL500 is giving you a rough welcome. The error codes P2767 and P2768 indicate issues with the input/turbine speed sensor, which plays a key role in the transmission's ability to shift gears. Since restarting the car helped temporarily, it’s likely an intermittent electrical issue or the sensor itself failing. Overfilling the transmission fluid can also cause shifting problems, so getting that fluid level corrected is step one. As for repairs, replacing the speed sensor can be tricky due to its location inside the transmission, so labor costs can add up. Depending on the shop, you might be looking at a few hundred to over a thousand dollars. Mercedes are fun, safe cars, but they ain't cheap. Sorry to hear about the issue with your new ride. I'm sure there are some online forums that can help as well.
