Why would the car put out a smell like eggs ( sulphur) when speeding on a highw

Thank you for your response to the comment I wrote in Oct. Coincidentally, I put my Mercedes SL500 in a German shop as you suggested because the " check engine light " recently came on . Have spent over 5 grand in less than a year. Love the car but seriously considering whether to buy an ESA or trade it in .
