Why my ignition switch won't turn?

My car unlocks and locks and the truck opens but the key won't turn at all when I put it in the ignition.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Water got on the key.

Grasp steering wheel and rock it back and forth ‘forcefully’ while turning the key.

Suspect steer wheel lock has pressure placed upon the key ‘lock cylinder’ .. Rocking steering wheel will relieve this pressure - key should turn. Note: IF front wheels are turned (not pointed straight ahead) - turn the steering wheel in same direction - that will also release the key. Good luck!
