Gear Shift Stuck in Park

Unless you want to replace perfectly good and unnecessary parts, I'd strongly suggest to get it to a MB specialty shop. This condition could be caused by quite few different reasons - and to test components it will required a diagnostic computer like SDS. The only thing is that you can do is to check if the brake lights are working. On some MB you can remove the gear selector boot and manually move a lever so you can shift it in gear so you can drive it to a shop. Zee

Just my luck I made this $1200+ repair last month @ MB of LB -- parts required were the Shifter, Pin, and Lock. Removel and replacement are made inside the car. It did not look hard for a DIY, I was going to do it myself; however, I was not sure the shifter replacement was the answer. And I would not have not been prepared/aware of the lock and the pin replace. Hope you can diy and save - good luck
