The first repair removed and resealed the pan.Second service replaced pan still leaked. The next two repairs failed and still a small leak remains. It appears that the leak reappears at the same location. The car remains at the shop until the tech can figure out the answer. Thank You LARRY

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Larry, it sounds like your R350 is being a bit stubborn with that oil pan leak. If the pan has been resealed and even replaced, yet the leak persists in the same spot, there might be more to this mystery. A few things to consider: First, ensure that the sealing surface on the engine block is clean and free of any old gasket material or debris. Even a tiny imperfection can cause a persistent leak. The pan itself might be fine, but if the mating surface isn't perfectly clean and smooth, sealing can be an issue. Second, check for any cracks or damage to the engine block around the sealing area. It's rare, but a hairline crack could be causing the leak. Lastly, it's worth considering the possibility of a leak from another nearby component, such as a timing cover or rear main seal, that's trickling down to the oil pan area and making it seem like the pan is the culprit.
