most likely the normal smoking produced by an engine that was over heated at one point and resulted in some damage to the piston rings and the valve guides allowing some oil to enter the combustion chamber via the valve guide when the motor is not running over nite.That oil is burned off when you start it in the morning for work,,and then when you punch it to get on the freeway some oil escapes the crank case and is burned as a result of piston rings cracked ,clogged and allowing oil blow-by to take place...Think back...has your wife ever said"The Jeep kinda got a little hot on the way home from my moms,but I put water in it at the very first gas station I got to"..In other words,,,She drove it on slow bake the whole way back stopping about a block from the house and dumped a big blast of cold water into the radiator knocking the steam and clatter down enough to get it home.
