What is your question?
I have not been able to figure out where the leak is exactly, but right after i put more power steering fluid in the resevoir, I looked under the car and saw it dripping from a bar under the the front part of my car. Is that the power steering rack?

There is an O-ring between the P/S reservoir and the pump. I had to replace quite few of them because they fail often. Check if you can see a leak above the pump. If the leak is from there, it drops and runs down on the pump. It isn't an easy repair for a "weekend mechanic" , you need to know how to take it apart without damaging components. It has a special P/S fluid, make sure they don't use any generic fluid or ATF in it. Zee
I found out today that I have a leaky reservoir. The dealer is telling me that the original reservoir on the 2006 ML350 was discontinued and that the new reservoir doesn't match up with the power steering pump. So I need to replace my power steering pump. Does that make sense? Did Mercedes really change to another reservoir that doesn't fit with other parts already installed?
I have replaced quite few O rings - they were ALL leaking - but never see a bad or cracked reservoir. I don't even use the original O ring, but a slightly thicker one and non of the ones I repaired is leaking. If MB makes a change on a bad part, they will be sure it will fit. I think your MB dealer is not honest. You can ask a printed Technical Service Bulletin about the Power Steering Reservoir and Pump update. I didn't find any. There are few other TSB on the steering - non for the reservoir-pump replacement - and one recall on the clamp which secures the pressure hose to the cooler, but that's it. The truth is, I get the manufacturer's TSBs with few months of delay, but you can ask them about the parts upgrade - if there is any, they should have the documentation from the factory. I'd suggest to find a honest, reputable independent MB specialty shop in your area and get a second opinion. Let us know what happened. Zee
Thanks Zee. I sure will.
