when I took mercedes-benz ml320 2003 to emissions test ,it failed emissions test

purge valve or evap was the problem when check engine light came on. Had purge valve replaced and check engine light came off.Took it to emissions and they asked if I had any work done recently ? I had put new purge valve in . They told me to keep driving it until computer picks it up.
