What is your question?
About 3 weeks ago I started the car and it got stuck in the start function after I released the key, I turned the car off and then it started just fine. Last night I got in the car to come home from work and it will not start. It has a battery that is only 6 months old. The dashboard lights up with all the different functions lit up and a clicking noise from inside the dash or it seems? Then you could hear other electrical things like the locks and the CD player making a whirring noise. I replaced the key fob batteries and no luck. I purchased the car from a friend. Unfortunately only one key exists. I was having issues with the power locks not responding to the fob, although the batteries in the fob are only 2 months old
How long has your 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML320 had this problem?

Hands on inspection and troubleshooting is required. I will say that if your vehicle got stuck in the start function, it may be creating all kinds of electrical maladies as you are experiencing also. This is only a guess. Everything you stated also sounds like it could be related to a charging system or 12 volt battery issue as well. Low voltage in your system can cause many problems across a multitude of components.
