is there a sucessful way to open a jam trunk without damaging the car

usually, but not in a Mercedes, you will find a steel bulkhead. the last time we "fixed" one of these, we removed the rear license plate and had to drill a hole to access the pull rod at the latch. would not advise this unless you know exactly where to drill.
