when do the front shocks need to be replaced typically?on a 2008 E350

Sorry to say it is a good idea to replace the springs along with struts and shocks. The springs weaken over time and can cause an alignment issue, ride issue, and handling. It would help to know how many miles you have. The reason is if this is just a low mileage car the need for spring replacement would be rare.
