HELP!!! I just bought this car and it had 2 problems, I took it to a mechanic to check it out before I got it and the diagnosis was an small oil leak "seal" in the back of the engine where the transmission is and the car made a weird sound like rough and 2 mechanics thought it was "mounts" one said tranny mount and the other said engine.... HERE'S THE BIG BUT... Just yesterday, the Check Engine Light came on and when I slow down, the car jerks back and forth slightly... it happened a couple times now... could it be the mounts? PLEASE HELP!!!

No, get the check engine code read for free at an Autozone and post results on here to further assist you. The rocking action could be from the mounts but the check engine light is not.
looking4sugar I also just bought a 2003 e320 that feels like a bucking bronco at different times at low speeds, I read on some site that it's due to dirty transmission fluid and clogged transmission filter tomorrow morning I'm going to change the filter and only replace the amount of transmission fluid that comes out without completely draining the trans. Which is 5 quarts of fluid (synthetic) to completely replace every drop of fluid it takes I believe 12 quarts at $15.00 a quart I'm going to try replacing like I said earlier hope that will cure the bronco effect. I'll let you know okay? Starborder
Thank you for respinding. We had the tranny serviced and it didn't resolve the problem. I still don't know what's going on. Please update me if yours changes.
Thank you.... didn't know auto zone reads check engine light messages *****Just called Auto Zone and they don't offer that service in California :(
California is one of the few states I have heard that won't do it. You can buy an OBD II reader through amazon or ebay. They are not very expensive. Find a friend with a reader or local shop to do this for you. Autozone does perform this service in most states though....
Thank you so much for your time! It's appreciated :)
I have had my MBZ E320 '03 in May will be 1 Year, after a couple months, it began to do the same as you've described, I was terrified it would be a major problem,I began putting ONLY SHELL 91 octane in, and it runs ao much better, I still have the jerking back n forth, but only a couple times and not as bad as it was! I never could get an answer from a couple different Mechanic's I frequent, changing the gas, has made an all around difference!!! I love My Benz......!!
Thank you so much...I will try it and post results! I was just telling my friend that bad gas does that to American cars when you travel to tijuana Mexico and use that gas!
