Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! This has the hallmarks of an immobilizer issue. The E320 of this era uses Mercedes EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) and an immobilizer system that has to recognize the key's transponder chip before it allows cranking or spark. Everything else working, lights, locks, trunk, alarm, tells us power is fine but the immobilizer may not be seeing the key properly. The 20 minute wait trick you tried is actually a known Mercedes immobilizer reset procedure so good instinct there. At this point the EIS unit itself, the key transponder, or the immobilizer control module are the prime suspects and unfortunately this really needs a Mercedes capable scan tool to dig deeper!
