I have a 1999 Mercedes Benz E320 and with my headlights on, my engine will shut down as soon as I use the turn signal.. Runs fine with headlights and I can use blinkers when headlights are off. Also using horn turns off engine as soon as it is pressed. Any ideas what may be causing this? In other vehicles, I see some mention of bad wires in the column. The battery needs replacing but the alternator is good as well. Could a bad battery maybe cause this?
How long has your 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 had this problem?
Just started when dash indicated I had a light out.

I can't guarantee that the battery will fix the issue but it's a great place to start since you need a new battery anyway.
I've been working on Mercedes for 15 years and haven't seen this one yet. This could be some kind of wiring issue but first make sure your battery and alternator are working correctly. Most auto parts stores will do a battery and alternator check for free as long as you can drive your car there. Alex
The alternator is good but the battery was said to have a bad cell and needs replacing. Could the battery cause this?
The alternator is good but the battery was said to have a bad cell and needs replacing. Could the battery cause this? The car cranks right back up and drives great, just can't hit the horn or turn on signal with headlights on.
